LEXTAL advised Santander Bank Polska and other banks in connection with a EUR 120,000,000 syndicated loan facility to plywood manufacturing group Paged. Advice was provided in cooperation with the lead counsel White & Case. LEXTAL team was led by partner Ants Karu.

The Vilnius and Tallinn offices of LEXTAL represent BMGS, one of the biggest hydro-technical construction companies in the Baltic region, in the Stockholm arbitration court.
The LEXTAL court team is led by Olavi-Jüri Luik and represents the plaintiffs: creditor Port One Ltd in criminal proceedings along with bankruptcy registrars in civil proceedings in the so-called Autorollo dispute, one of the most high profile cases in Estonia. LEXTAL successfully represented Philip Morris in a VAT dispute. The client received a favourable judgement from the Estonian Supreme Court.
LEXTAL represented the shareholders of Levicom. Shares in Levicom had been sold to Tele2 and the shares were held by a Dutch holding company prior to the sale. The court ruled in favour of LEXTAL’s client.
LEXTAL successfully represented the Riga city court bailiff in a dispute with the state revenue service regarding fines applied on the basis of a tax audit.

Criminal Law

LEXTAL successfully represented the shareholders of a company in Lithuania in a criminal case related to the director’s criminal liability and responsibility for company losses.
LEXTAL’s Riga office provided representation in criminal proceedings regarding the avoidance of declaring cash when crossing the state border. LEXTAL advised the client on criminal proceedings and achieved a reclassification of the matter to an administrative violation.
In the so-called land exchange case in Estonia, LEXTAL achieved the acquittal of its client based on the unreasonable term of the procedure. LEXTAL’s client was the only accused to be cleared of liability.
LEXTAL provided representation in criminal proceedings regarding illegally acquired property in Latvia. LEXTAL provided defence counsel for the owner of the property, which was to be seized in proceedings regarding criminally acquired property.
